Michael Steineke is a Windows Server Platform expert with an industry-wide reputation as an innovator in the areas of Windows Server, storage and network architecture, disaster recovery, datacenter configuration, and SQL Server. Before joining Microsoft as a Principal Program Manager in Azure CAT, his thought leadership led to eight consecutive Microsoft MVPs and regular speaking engagements.

 

Prior to Microsoft, Steineke was a Director at Concurrency, Inc., where he was the practice lead for SQL & BI and Azure Cloud & Datacenter before that he served as Vice President of Information Technology for Edgenet – an industry leader in collecting, structuring and delivering product data.  Since 1997, Michael designed and implemented a private cloud infrastructure for scalability, high availability and disaster recovery – employing his expert knowledge of Windows Clustering including geographically dispersed clusters.

 

Michael has spoken on subjects like Windows Server 2012 R2, clustering, Hyper-V, SQL Server, and multi-site clusters at user groups and conferences of all sizes, including SQL Saturdays, SQL PASS Summit, Microsoft TechEd, Microsoft Ignite, TechMentor, and the MVP Summit held at Microsoft.

 

Outside of the IT world, Michael’s a dedicated father of four who lives near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, whose expertise also includes photography.  He has been a professional aviation photographer since 1989, and has spent seven years as a staff photographer at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture Fly-In.  He was Chairman of the EAA volunteer photography staff through 2016 and is currently a volunteer for the EAA Communications Center.  Steineke’s photographic work has been published internationally, and his images have graced hundreds of magazine covers.
